The Australian Council of Trade Unions are attempting to discuss with the Fair Work Commission to push the annual minimum wage up 5 percent. This is a dramatic increase from last year’s 2.5 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Fair Work Commission’s annual wage review is the deciding point to increase the minimum wage. They have announced that if successful, the minimum hourly rate could be raised to $21.35 for the annual wage of $42,183.96. It was originally $20.33.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Many people rely on this wage review for pay rises, much like the farmers who up until recently are now guaranteed minimum wage when they did not have one before and were exploited for it as many were migrants. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is due to the current inflation. ACTU Sally McManus summarised that \u201cworkers need a five per cent increase to keep ahead of rising inflation and living costs\u201d. She says in another statement “If this government is serious about addressing cost of living pressures, it starts with wage growth.” further agreeing to this increase. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The federal government released a budget for the 2022\/20223 financial year, easing the costs of living by providing measures such as halving the fuel to 22 cents a litre for the next 6 months. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This was argued as the recent scuffle with Morrison government on Tuesday through the statements of providing only temporary aid for this increasing inflation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
McManus continues “The one-off payments of Morrison’s federal budget will do nothing to generate the long-term, sustainable wage growth that workers need or stop the nation’s workforce suffering another year of real wage cuts.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The financial market worries over increasing inflation that could lead to more unemployment and wage problems at the rate it is accelerating annually.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
