Tomorrow marks a special milestone for anyone in Melbourne who cares about innovation, mobility, design, or simply about the future of cities. Presented by the French Embassy in Australia, the Grand Paris Express exhibition is opening its doors, bringing to Australia one of the most ambitious transport and infrastructure projects underway globally.
The Grand Paris Express project is much more than just a metro extension. It represents a complete reconfiguration of Greater Paris:
- 200 km of new automated metro lines,
- 68 new generation stations, and
- architectural designs that redefine how a 21st century city moves, grows and adapts.
A Franco-Australian dialogue initiated by Team France
This exhibition is the result of a unique collaboration between the French Embassy, the Société des Grands Projets (SGP) and a consortium of French companies involved in the delivery of the Grand Paris Express project in France. Their objective is to showcase French expertise in large-scale transport infrastructure, while fostering a dialogue with Australian industry, government and urban stakeholders.
The goal is clear: to encourage bilateral cooperation and exchange on some of the major challenges Australia is facing in terms of sustainable mobility, infrastructure planning, network capacity and long-term urban resilience.

Starting tomorrow, the exhibition will be open to all during three public viewing sessions in the coming week.
