Qantas announces plans to offer world’s longest passenger flights from Sydney to “any city on Earth”

Qantas has recently announced its plan to begin direct flights from Sydney to London and New York from 2025.

Expected to take more than 19 hours, the new routes will be the longest passenger flights in the world.

The airline conducted a test flight direct from New York to Sydney in 2019, which took 19 hours and 16 minutes.

To operate these routes, Qantas has purchased 12 Boeing Airbus A350-1000s which will allegedly have “the range for direct flights between Australia and any city in the world.”

The airline is looking at introducing facilities such as a “wellbeing zone” in the centre of the planes as a way to maximise comfort for passengers.

“The cabin is being specifically designed for maximum comfort in all classes for long-haul flying,” Qantas chief executive Alan Joyce recently mentioned.

NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet has described the announcement as “a huge win for the state”.

The planes are set to touch down in Australia from 2023.
